Results of the Ist Meeting of SibNeuro.

Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons (“SibNeuro”) started its activities in August 2014 and in the end of September the 1st meeting of the Associations participants took place.
Such meetings are planned to be hold monthly and in July 2015 a Neurosurgical Congress will take place that will be dedicated to topical questions of practical neurosurgery and new problems of scientific researches of nervous system surgery.
There were many honorable guests at the 1st meeting. Specialists from Moscow, St.-Petersburg. Omsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk and other cities took part in the Congress.
The meeting was opened by welcome speech of the Scientific Director of the Federal Neurosurgical Center Krylov Vladimir Viktorovich, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, MD, Professor, Head of neurosurgical and neurosurgical intensive care divisions of Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, the Head of emergency neurosurgical care division of N.V.Sklifosovsky Scientific Research Institute of First Aid, Board Member of the Russian Association of Neurosurgeons, a Member of European and World Association of Neurosurgeons, a Member of the Supreme Attestation Commission, Editor in Chief of “Neurosurgery” journal, Deputy Chairman of Moscow Neurosurgical Society.
Grin Andrey Anatolievich, MD, Chief Neurosurgeon of Moscow City Health Department and Sadovoy Mikhail Anatolievich, Director of Novosibirsk Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy named after Y.L.Tsivian” addressed the audience with many warm words.
The 1st meeting was dedicated to the history of world and Russian neurosurgery.
Among the main reports were the following specialists:
Lichterman Leonid Boleslavovich, MD, Professor, Chief Scientific Researcher of the Academician N.N.Burdenko Research Institute for Neurosurgery (Moscow);
Lichterman Boleslav Leonidovich, PhD, Researcher of the research-engineering section of the Academician N.N.Burdenko Research Institute for Neurosurgery (Moscow);
Kondakov Evgeniy Nikolaevich, MD, Professor, Deputy Director of Professor A.L.Polenov Russian Neurosurgical Institute (St.-Petersburg);
Dmitriev Aleksandr Borisovich, PhD, neurosurgeon of oncological division of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk).
Lichterman Leonid Boleslavovich was the 1st who presented a report on neurosurgeon’s clinical way of thinking. He mentioned negative sides of technologisation of neurosurgery; put an emphasis on the main principles of patient’s data analysis. The most part of the report was dedicated to the examples from his personal experience. The report ended with the following words: “A neurosurgeon should be philosophically, methodologically and ideologically educated not to become a “screw” in modern neurosurgical system but to be humane and rational doctor”.
Boleslav Leonidovich made a report on formation of neurosurgery as a clinical discipline. The term “neurosurgery” appeared for the 1st time in 1904 in the article title in “Alienist and Neurologist” journal: “Neurosurgery: trigeminal neuralgia treatment with the help of intraneural injections of osmic acid”. Boleslav Leonidovich told about formation of neurosurgery, pointed out essential factors of this discipline development. A particular attention was paid to the origin and development of neurosurgery in Moscow and Paris.
The next report was made by Kondakov Evgeniy Nikolaevich on “V.M.Bekhterev is a godfather of the Russian neurosurgery”. He told about activities of Bekhterev in Kazan University, about the years spent in Emperor’s Military Medical Academy and about his great contribution to the activities of St.-Petersburg Psychoneurological Institute.
Aleksandr Borisovich Dmitriev, a neurosurgeon of the Federal Neurosurgical Center was the last person who presented his report that day. His report dealt with the history of Siberian neurosurgery formation. He started his report with detailed information about Novosibirsk Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy named after Y.L.Tsivian. The history of neurosurgery in Novosibirsk is associated with establishment of the Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy. Housed by the Institute, the 1st neurosurgical division was launched in 1950. He also told about the largest neurosurgical institutes of Siberia and significant specialists who helped developing neurosurgery in our region.
After all the reports were presented, there was a discussion of the most interesting moments.

The next meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons will be held on November 21, 2014. A neurosurgeon from the University of Illinois (Chicago, the USA), Konstantin V.Slavin will be an invited speaker.
