“Functional Neurosurgery” Educational Course.

A regular educational course on functional neurosurgery was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk).

 An educational course on functional neurosurgery was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center on October 30-31, 2014. “SibNeuro” was one of the co-organizers of this event being held in the FNC annually.

 Neurosurgeons and specialists of related professions from Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and Yekaterinburg presented their reports on functional neurosurgery. The cycle consisted on 4 lecture sessions (epilepsy, movement disorders, pain syndromes and rehabilitation in neurosurgery) and real-time translation of 3 surgical procedures from the operation rooms (amygdalohippocampotomy, DREZ-operation, cervical neurostimulation).

 According to a tradition, the course was opened by welcome words of Scientific Director of the Federal Neurosurgical Center Krylov Vladimir Viktorovich, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, MD, Professor, Head of neurosurgical and neurosurgical intensive care divisions of Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, the Head of emergency neurosurgical care division of N.V.Sklifosovsky Scientific Research Institute of First Aid, Board Member of the Russian Association of Neurosurgeons, a Member of European and World Association of Neurosurgeons, a Member of the Supreme Attestation Commission, Editor in Chief of “Neurosurgery” journal, Deputy Chairman of Moscow Neurosurgical Society.

 During 2 days of the course the lecturers covered current issues of functional neurosurgery, shared their experience in this sphere and paid particular attention to typical details of neurosurgical activities.

 In conclusion the results of the educational course were summarized, the most interesting moments and plans for the nearest future were discussed.
