Results of the IIIrd Meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro”.
This year’s first meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons took place on January 30, 2015 at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center.
Physician-in-Chief of the Federal Neurosurgical Center, Jamil Rzaev, was the chairman of the IIIrd meeting.
A.G.Kalinichev, Professor of Omsk State Medical Academy was the first who presented his report on normotensive brain dropsy. He told about etiology, mechanism of formation and clinical aspects of such disease as normotensive brain dropsy (NBD). Professor Kalinichev cited statistical data about the quantity of patients in Russia and in the world, and also about the quantity of surgical procedures performed in Omsk. Particular attention was paid to diagnostics of patients with NBD, Tap test method was reviewed in detail.
The second report on “Complex Immune Therapy of Gliomas” became joint efforts of the Head of Laboratory of Clinical Immunotherapy (Scientific Research Institute of Clinical Immunology), Professor Elena R.Chernikh and neurosurgeon of Novosibirsk Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy named after Y.L.Tsivyan, Sergey V.Mishinov. Dr.Mishinov started his report with a theoretical part. He told about the frequency of such tumors appearance, about the timelines in diagnostics and treatment. Having noticed different therapeutic methods, Dr.Mishinov paid attention to optional methods such as immunotherapy.
Dr.Chernikh started her report with the issue of intracerebral gliomas treatment with the help of dendritic cellular vaccines. The lector estimated immunotherapy as a perspective to effectiveness improvement in treatment of glioblastoma. She told about new targeted medications in treatment. Particular attention was paid to clinical tests of DC-vaccines in cases of malignant gliomas in the leading medical centers of the USA, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan and Spain.
Studies of DC and DC-vaccines have been performed in Novosibirsk Institute of Fundamental and Clinical Immunology together with Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedy for more than 10 years. Dr.Mishinov shared the results of this joint work and told the audience about the plans of research on the territory of Novosibirsk.
The report on the “Surgery of hemorrhagic stroke” by Vladimir G.Dashiyan, Professor of neurosurgical intensive care division of A.I.Evdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, became the IIIrd one. This is a topical subject and it provoked a great interest and questions from the audience. The colleagues from Omsk and Novokuznetsk shared their observations and told about their own experience in performing of such procedures. Professor Dashiyan noticed that the quantity of patients in Russia being operated on hemorrhagic stroke is very small and it does not exceed 15% of the minimal quantity of people that should be operated on. There are even less patients that were operated with the help of minimally traumatic methods. In many regions there is no practice of stroke surgery with the help of neuronavigation and endoscopy. Professor Dashiyan told in detail about such methods of surgical procedures as endoscopic aspiration, paracentetic aspiration and local fibrinolysis. He spoke about some advantages of these methods over open surgery. The second part of his report was dedicated to his own experience of hemorrhagic stroke surgery.
In the end of the meeting the results of the competition of young specialists being held among the participants of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons were announced.
