Results of the XLIVth Meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro”
The XLIVth meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro” was held on July 27 at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center. Colleagues from Novosibirsk and St.-Petersburg took part in the event.
Jamil A.Rzaev, Physician-in-Chief of the Federal Neurosurgical Center was the Chairman of the meeting.
Report on “Neuro otology: common problems of otorhinolaryngology and neurosurgery” was presented by Fedor A.Siroezhkin, MD, associate professor of otorhinolaryngology division of S.M.Kirov Military Medical Academy (St.-Petersburg). In his report Dr.Siroezhkin told about joint activities of neurosurgeons and otorhinolaryngologists in complicated cases demanding complex approach to surgery. He highlighted the issues of complicated cases such as middle ear cholesteatomas and tactical approach to their surgery.
The next who presented his report on “Diffusion-tensor MRI in cases of trifacial neuralgia” was Mikhail E.Amelin, MD, radiologist, head of radiology division of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk). He told about the results of fractional anisotropy research in MRI in patients with trigeminal neuralgia caused by vessel compression and also about results of surgical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.
Each report evoked scientific interest of the audience. There was a discussion after Dr.Amelin finished his report.
The next meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro” will be held on August 31 at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk).
